Calculator optimisation of energy consumption in private homes

The API that Totalkredit is using for their Energy calculator has new available data concerning energy labels.

Customers can use the calculator to get proposals for projects that would improve their energy consumption, and to figure out how these improvement would be reflected in an energy label. Just as providing a clear picture of cost benefit.
In this regard, the current calculator (2022 version) needed at redesign to embrace the new functionality.

My role

My role was to faciliate meetings with Business analyst, developers and API providers to figure out the best way to rebuild the software, and get a strong common focus on what we wanted to achieve with the calculator.  Create wireframes and contuct user tests to ensure is was done right.

Prototype using
high fidelity wireframes

User stories

  • The user must be able to see highlighted improvement proposals and understand why exactly these are highlighted

  • The user must be able to see the repayment period, investment cost and savings for the specific improvement proposals and as a combined pool

  • The user with an energy label must be able to see how the various proposals can affect the energy label

  • Users must be able to see and edit which information about their home the calculation is based on, in order to create a more precise calculation

  • The user must be able to change the home temperature, as this changes their reduction in cost

  • The user must be able to see where the prices come from
